With finals quickly approaching, I decided to put together a list of some tips to help you get through the next two weeks. These are things that I have found to be helpful throughout my experience at SHU. Hopefully, they can help you too.
1. Use the library to your advantage
The library is a great place to get things done. Find somewhere to sit, put your headphones in, and study.
Tip: The third floor is surprisingly less crowded than the fourth.
2. Dunkin
Nothing beats coffee on finals week. It gets you energized, and is delicious. (if you are like me and get caramel)
Tip: There is usually no line at the top of the hour. 20 minutes into the hour, the line is around the whole place.
3. Highlight your notes
For me, highlighting makes a big difference. It helps my brain organize the information, making it easier to remember.
Tip: Use different colors to differentiate between topics.
4. Don’t be afraid to email your professor.
In my experience, professors here at SHU are happy to help. If you have a question about something, ask. It’s better to ask than to remain confused.
Tip: Be formal in your emails. Some professors get upset if you write to them casually.
5. Take breaks when studying
It is beautiful out. Take a walk by the green every now and then to remind yourself that there is life outside of your notes and the exam review.
Tip: Get someone to walk with…a little human interaction is always good.
6. Be prepared
Stop by the book store and get a green book if you need one. You want to be on your professor’s good side, so try not to use loose leaf if they advise you to get a green book.
Tip: Get the green book early, so you don’t have to rush right before the exam.
7. Get to the exam room early
Get yourself seated and situated. Do some last minute review. Anything helps.
Tip: Sit where you always sit. You want to be comfortable.
Hopefully these tips were of some help to you. We are almost there. You can do this. Now, go study.
