Serena Williams recently gave birth to her beautiful daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian. In William’s recent Gatorade commercial, she took the opportunity to give a future heartfelt message to her daughter.
This message consisted of things that she can learn through sports, whether on the field, on the court, or on the track; sports can teach valuable life lessons and skills without even realizing it.
Serena Williams exemplifies what it means to have a passion and to work hard. Now she can not only pass this same work ethic and love for sports on to her daughter, but she can and is a wonderful example for all young girls who want to be great in this world.
This beautiful message can especially apply to young athletes. If there is anyone who athletes can look up to for inspiration, Serena Williams' would be without a doubt one of the best choices.
The main points of her message are as follows:
1. "You’ll learn to move and how to move others."
When playing sports, we learn how to move a certain way. We become physically fit and agile while also finding a passion, but what William's also means is that with this passion we can influence others to do the things that they love as well.
You better believe that there are young tennis players who look up to Serena Williams or gymnasts who look up to people like Gabby Douglas. Passion can be contagious. You can move others through anything you may decide to do. When we become great at what we do, whether it is in sports, academics, music, etc., we can influence others to do the same and be great while doing it.
2. "You’ll make sisters through sweat."
Whether you're a boy or girl, we create friendships with those who share the same passion and goals as us.
This especially goes for those who are apart of a team in any sports/organizations. You will not only bond through working towards the same goal, but you have to learn how to trust one another to achieve that goal.
Learning how to work as a team can carry you a long way in life, but more importantly, those teammates can become significant lifelong friends.
3. "You’ll find courage in whatever playing field you choose."
Most athletes or former athletes will tell you that sports not only gives you a particular strength, but it gives you overall confidence in general.
Sports can show you how to be a leader and how not to be a pushover. It will teach you that you can’t be scared or intimidated if you want to be successful.
This mindset can be implemented into your everyday life, giving you the courage to conquer whatever challenges may come your way.
