The six word short story, an extreme version of flash fiction, is accredited to Ernest Hemingway. A famous example of a six word short story is one by Hemingway that goes: "For Sale: baby shoes, never worn". So I'm taking a jab at trying to evoke emotion and a story in just one sentence (because six words has proven to be too hard).
1. She pressed the locket to her heart, remembering the good times before the war.
2. The crib was all that remained in the nursery that had never been used.
3. Jess looked in the mirror and wondered whose face was looking back at her.
4. Keith stood in the doorway, looking at his once perfect life in shambles and the feeling of a knife in his back.
5. Every time she caught his eye, a pang of sadness struck her and she wanted to cry.
6. His eyes looked sad while his lips pulled into a taut grin.
This is hard but at least I tried!!!
