For a lot of potential and future BSU students, attending a tour at Bemidji State University is the first step in deciding what is right for your future. When this time comes, for most of us, the decision is easy. With the university settled right on the lake and a campus that is stunning in all four seasons of the year, it's no secret that Bemidji State ends up being the place where we want to spend the next four years of our lives. Bemidji State is where we want to make new memories. Bemidji State is where we want to call home and where we make the decision to. With a slogan like "The Best Decision Ever", BSU surely doesn't disappoint, and for a lot of us it hasn't.
Although Minnesota technically sports all four seasons, winter is primarily the one that sticks around each year at BSU. However, even the frigid weather will be missed when we all depart onto the next steps in our lives. Free parking on the frozen lake will no longer be an experience we take photos of and brag about, playing hockey with our friends and roommate on the frozen pond near Walnut hall will not soon be forgotten, and ice fishing--well, most of us won't be giving that up anytime soon.
However, a certain list of things may be a bit easier to say goodbye to than others. Here we say 'so long' to the dash from Tamarack Hall to Linden Hall that is uncovered from the comfort of the underground tunnels. We say 'au revoir' to food that didn't exactly satisfy our every craving from Wally's. We say 'good riddance' to tests, papers, and buying books we never used. The list of positive memories and accomplishments we have made at BSU, though, live on and will remind us frequently of why we chose Bemidji State University. The professors and faculty that truly cared about our education, the amazingly fun and free events that CAB put on for students, and the endless number of friends we have made will keep us tearing up during the weeks before and after we walk across that stage, beaming in completion of our time here.
It's safe to say that it's obvious saying goodbye is not going to be easy, but yet it will be worth it. It will be worth it to always know that Bemidji State University played a part in bettering our futures, in teaching us the best they could, and in guiding us every step of the way.
For the past few years, Bemidji State University has not only been my home, but a home to an unimaginable number of others, and for that we thank you. We throw our hats off in honor of everything you have done and been for us. Go Beavers!
