Senioritis...a slow disease that slowly but surly kills your G.P.A. (grade point average).
Before I talk about senioritis, I want to tell you I have experience because I turned this article in at the last minute (and this isn't even school)!
Senioritis is a real thing! The definition of senioritis is "a supposed affliction of students in their final year of high school or college, characterized by a decline in motivation or performance" - according to Google. (Which, I mean, isn't the most reliable source but hey... lazy) I'm speaking to any person in high school below 12th grade, especially you, juniors! Watch out because you can catch it at any moment even when you don't expect it. My whole high school career I joked around and said that I've had if forever but apparently I jinxed myself because sure enough as soon as I got into college I became so lazy!
I have known for a while I wanted to go to college, I had a plan and the college I wanted to go to had rolling admissions. Rolling admissions is the worst! I applied really early and found out within two or three weeks. So I found out where I was going around November when most other people didn't find out until April. So I caught this dreadful virus earlier than everyone else.
If you have any of these signs or symptoms its too late. There is no going back. Sign number one is that you just stop doing homework and assignments. The next symptom is if you ever say the words "I will do it later" or "it's just a small grade I don't have to do it" then you are just excepting failure. If you start to not even look good for school (no makeup, and wear T-shirts and sweatpants 95 percent of the time) then congratulations you have the third symptom. Another symptom is that you don't study anymore therefore you just guess on quizzes. That last one is bad, try not to get that symptom. The next sign or symptom is that you just don't go to school. You already got into college so what's the point right? If you say those words then you have excepted senioritis into your heart. There is no going back.
Don't say I didn't warn you! Yes, having senioritis is something people joke about but it's really not something to joke about. It smacks you right in the face when you least expect it. It's like this blanket of laziness just falls over you and when that happens you don't want to get up out of the warm comfy bed. When you get in that cozy bed it causes you to hit the snooze button about 76 times. Then eventually college comes and rips you right out of that bed.
Therefore, I am warning you to prepare yourself for what is about to happen if you look away for one second then you could catch this horrible disease.
