Senior Year Opportunities

Senior Year Opportunities

Stepping into my senior year of high school, I've reflected and thought about all the change that will be coming in just ten short months. I've decided that I don't want these ten months to fly by without me taking advantage of all the opportunity senior year will bring. Sometimes we get so used to the mundane that we don't stop to smell the roses. School provides a lot of opportunity and fun that we let slip by. But I've made the conscientious decision to not let that happen senior year.

Here are five things to look forward to if you're going into you're senior year, or five things to reflect on from your senior year ;).

1. Pep Rallies

Pep rallies are no longer arenas of screaming teenagers. Pep rallies are now arenas with screaming teenagers with seniority on your side! Although my class is notorious for being the loudest since our freshman year and winning the spirit stick, we can now say that the spirit stick truly BELONGS to us. We can now walk in first without getting mauled by the other 1,000 students trying to get to their seats, and we have the best seats in the house to watch the show.

2. Senior Assassin

This will by far be one of my favorite parts of senior year. Water guns, eavesdropping, and sprinting is just too much for my little mischievous heart to bare. Throw in the fact that the prize is money and I just don't know what to do with myself. Although, I am still debating whether or not I'm ready to see the true colors that senior assassin brings out of people!

3. Senior Parking

This may not seem like a big deal. But having to wait 15 minutes to get out of the parking lot at school and having parents give you death stares when you ask if you can get in front of them in line IS a big deal. Hopefully senior parking will be less chaotic and nerve wrecking, and I can get out of the parking lot in under five minutes!

4. Senior Skip Day

I feel bad for those people who made a pact to not miss one day of school, because you better believe when senior skip day rolls around, I'm gonna be out of there! Oh c'mon! I think that we've earned one day where we all just take a break and go play at Chuck E. Cheese like four year olds. Or for some people stay up the previous night and sleep from 8:20 a.m to 3:05 p.m.

5. Senior Prank

Like I've mentioned before, my inner mischievous spirit is just itching for senior year. The senior prank is the perfect opportunity to unleash all the pranks I have stored in my head from Pinterest. I know that my class will not fail to deliver a prank that will have the teachers and faculty remembering our class for years to come!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
