With every new semester of school comes a new opportunity to further yourself in the academic field of your choice. No matter if this is your first semester or your last, here are some points to get you through your next semester.
1. Take good notes.
Notes are the key to an A in class. They can also become an easy study guide when exams come around.
2. GO TO CLASS!!
Even if it is the most boring class imaginable, going to class is important to succeeding in school. When the professor sees your face everyday, they will know you are dedicated to their class and, odds are, will really appreciate that.
3. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
There is nothing wrong for help in a class you are struggling with. There are usually many places to turn to if in need of help outside of class.
4. Meet all your professors.
Having a personal relationship with your professor can be a good way to show the professor you care.
5. Set aside time to study.
Instead of having different study times every day, set aside specific times each day to get homework out of the way or study for tests coming up.
6. Don't wait until the last minute.
Waiting until the last minute to do anything school related is a good way to add unnecessary stress to your day. Rushed work is also susceptible to more mistakes than there would be if you took your time on the assignment.
7. Always have extra everything.
Even if you only plan on using one pen the entire day (why you would I don't know), it is always a good idea to have backups. You just never know what's going to happen.
8. Find your study spot.
Having a certain place to study can be helpful. Finding an environment that is quiet and where it is easy to focus can make studying less of a hassle.
9. Meet people in class.
Having a buddy or two in class could never hurt. You will always have someone there just in case you can't make your 8 a.m. one day.
10. Keep your syllabus handy.
Your syllabus is the exact layout of how a semester in a class is supposed to go. It usually has every important date on it and can be a real life saver if the professor doesn't typically remind you about assignments.
11. Use your planner religiously.
If you are anything like me and can't even remember what you had for lunch most days, a planner will literally save your life.
12. Handwrite everything.
Studies show that writing out everything by hand makes it easier to memorize. Though it may be painful (depending on the professor), using written notes can help the memorization process.
13. Set goals for yourself.
It is a good idea to set strict goals for your semester, like maybe getting all A's and B's. Plan on how you are going to achieve those goals and work your way up to accomplishing them.
14. Read your textbook.
Many professors use textbooks to find tricky test questions. Reading all the course material will prepare you for even the hardest professor's exams.
15. Treat yo-self every now and then
Even through the stress that is a semester of school, set aside time to kick back, relax and maybe watch some Netflix.
