Dear Class of 2017 Graduate,

Congratulations! After eight semesters of kicking schools butt, making it to your 9 am lectures, and somehow partying three nights a week, you’ve finally been awarded your diploma! What’re you going to do now? What am I going to do now?

If you’re like me, so many careers spark your interest it seems hard to just pick one. As a double major and double minor, I tried to spend as much time as possible studying the topics that interested me. By doing this, I thought I could narrow down what it is I want to do. And guess what? It truly did not work. I find myself to be too intrigued by many things; journalism, health sciences, psychology, the list goes on and on. And now that I’m in the home stretch and graduation will be here before I know it, I have no idea what I’m going to do after being handed that piece of paper. And that’s okay.

You see, when thinking about what life will be like after graduation, I remind myself that everything will fall into place. If I take a year off and say travel, work and make money, maybe just relax after four years of constant papers and exams, I know I’ll one day get that master’s degree in whatever it is I decide to do. And if I decide to go straight to grad school, I know that those extra years of working towards a higher degree will benefit me in the long run.

One day, everything will fall into place. Whether it’s by accepting a job offer before the semester ends, getting into your top choice graduate program, or buying a plane ticket to a foreign country, everything happens for a reason and you’ve earned it all.
