Admit it! We all have cell phones that we're constantly on whether it's texting a friend, calling a family member, searching the web, or even playing some sort of app that we just had to have. We're addicted to our phones... well to a certain extent. But hey, cell phones are valuable in today's society and it would be hard to get a hold of someone if it wasn't for these electronic devices. I mean, we're not going to write and mail a letter that takes a few days to get an answer back when we want the answer in say five minutes. Yeah... cell phones are great... sometimes. No, seriously though there are so many times I tell my friends I'm about to throw my phone out the window. I'm not kidding! My phone pulls some stupid stunt on me ALL THE TIME! And I'm guessing I'm not the only one. Here are some problems I face with my supposed "smartphone:"
1. Autocorrect
Autocorrect is a huge pain for me, especially when I actually do type something correctly. I don't find it funny, I find it completely annoying. I went to text my mother "Hi mom" and after I hit send it changed to "No mom." Yeah... No mom... you can not. I don't know what you can't do but apparently, my phone doesn't want you to do it anyways.
2. Storage Limit
As a college student I need to keep track of my banking, but now that I'm a music major I have to download certain apps to my phone. Let's just say there's not enough storage space to where I can please my professors and have a personal life. One minute I have 22% storage and then the next I get "You have exceeded your limit. You have 12% storage left." Yeah okay, lock my entire phone up so I can't delete apps. This is why they're smartphones and not storage phones (P.S. I do have a chip and no it does not help.)
3. Phone Updates
Phone updates are helpful. You know when they're not helpful? During a phone conversation with your boss! "You're call has been ended. Your phone will now update for two hours." Um...NO! I NEED YOU! YOU CAN'T UPDATE! UPDATE LATER! "Sorry, the update is already in progress." Or what about those times you really do need the update? Of course, that's when it choices to fail.
4. Battery Life
When you first get a phone the battery life lasts for a while right? Well after having to record sessions and use my apps for classes I'm lucky to have 5% battery by 5 o'clock. Always fun having to constantly charge our phones right? Wrong!
5. Fractured Battery Ports
Because why should charging our phones be easy? We need to place our phones in an odd position and hope it stays as it charges because our charging ports refuse to work! For example, my mother's old phone stopped charging unless I stood on one foot on the edge of the couch trying to wrap the phone and charging card around the window frame and then try to have the phone standing upside down, which is not easy for the older rounded flip phones. But hey, it could be worse... the phone could have chosen not to work at all.
6. Shut Down
"Are you busy? Oh... you're in the middle of a conversation with your mother. Well, tell her you have to go because I'm shutting down now." Happens to me more than enough times. Sometimes it's because the battery is dead...and sometimes it's because my phone is just stupid. No seriously, I wont even click my button and my screen will light up and bring up the options and I'll accidentally tap shut down with my face. I hate my phone even more so when it does this.
7. Disconnecting WiFi
To be honest it's not always the WiFi's fault that your free internet goes out. Your phone just chooses to use Data and make your phone bill skyrocket. Seriously... today my friend was on her laptop and phone on the University WiFi and her phone kicked her off saying there was no WiFi connection, and yet her laptop still works and stayed connected. Hmm......
8. Apps
You're in a middle of a game, and you are so close to beating your score. YOU'VE DONE IT! NEW WORLD RECORD! Oh wait, your phone didn't capture it because the app failed to run and shut off on you. Whoops. Don't you just love that.
I could sit here and continue to type, but one I'd be here for days just typing about every little phone problem we face and two I think I got my point across. Be careful with your phones. You have been warned.
