As classes start up again so do the many priorities and stresses in your life. No more binge-watching Netflix and sleeping until noon every day. It's time to get to work and go back to the real world. You may not feel prepared in any way to go back, but with these six tips, you will be able to reduce your time spent on stressing and use it to enjoy college.

1. Exercise

Going to the gym while stressed out is the perfect way to get your mind off of what's stressing you out and a chance for you to focus on something else. You can go for a run, lift weights, take a class, or even go for a walk with some friends. Any type of exercise can help your mind and your body when stressed out.

2. Aromatherapy

Essential oils are amazing and can help with the health of the body, mind, and spirit. Stress fits in perfectly here because it can affect you physically and mentally. You can take a bath with essential oils, you can light a candle with essential oils, you can even apply essential oils and lotions to certain parts of your body to relieve stress. Some affective essential oils for stress are lavender, bergamot, lemongrass, lemon, etc.

3. Meditation

The calmer you are the less stressed you are. If you're all worked up about school, work, and all your commitments and never have any time to relax then you are putting a lot of stress on your body. Relaxing is an important key to keeping your body and mind healthy. Praying, watching television, yoga, listening to music, relaxing, etc. are great ways to meditate and clear your mind when stressed.

4. Journaling

Expressing your creative side through journaling, painting, or even graphic design is a great way to relieve stress. Concentrating on your thoughts and letting your heart pour out onto a painting or into a journal will help keep your mind at piece.

5. Eat a balanced diet

Eating habits can affect your stress levels in multiple ways. For instance, if you drink too much coffee it can increase your stress, however if you eat enough fruits and vegetables (specifically blueberries and green leafy vegetables) your stress will decrease. Nuts, yogurt, milk, dark chocolate, and more can also help decrease your stress each day.

6. Spend time with your friends

It's important that you focus on your extra curriculars and school, while making sure you still have time for your friends. Laughing and having a good time will help you clear your mind of everything that is stressing you out and will allow you to have fun for once.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
