Second chances are an important part of life. Everyone should get them because no one is perfect, so everyone makes mistakes. If we do not give second chances to others than we will never get second chances either. Second chances help us grow as people, and they help us learn about our mistakes. Here is a poem that I believe gets that point across effectively.

A different origin.

A different race.

But same at heart,

and all the same obstacles to face.

A group of friends that made her laugh.

Eventually made it to the lowest of the lowest class.

That one person that was neglected.

How she wished to be accepted.

I went to her needing sympathy,

but she didn't give any empathy.

The opening of doors.

The fresh aroma walking on the floors.

The summoning of your presence,

and finding a group for acceptance.

The big chance right in front of my eyes.

The catch being the old me dies.

A time for change.

A time for sacrifice.

A new appearance.

My old self had made a disappearance.

To be accepted into the group of popularity,

with such clarity.

A few weeks later.

A realization came upon me.

A devil and an angel both summoned,

to make the choice.

The devil yells to stay.

But the angel says to rejoice.

With a big decision lying ahead of me,

it was like living in the dead sea.

The angel pulling me up, the devil pulling me down.

The decision was made, to go up without a frown.

A time for change.

A time for sacrifice.

Now the big challenge,

the challenge to be accepted once again.

By the same friends I turned my back against,

and I apologized for all the pain

I never realized.

I failed to see.

That changing myself,

wasn't the key

In no time,

they were friends again.

They tolerated her mistakes,

and accepted her into the group again

They were true friends.

They were never mad at her.

They always showed pride.

They stuck to her like glue.

And all the things we will do,

and all the memories we will make.

This will remain forever,

and to hope that our friendship will never fade.
