A Reason, A Season, Or A Lifetime

Everyone has a purpose in your life, are they here short term or are they in it for the long-run?

A Reason, A Season, Or A Lifetime
Catherine Miller

People fade in and out of your life and sometimes it hurts. The end of friendships, break ups, and strained relationships with family members are never an easy thing to deal with. Nine times out of ten, it contributes to making you who you are and turns out to be a positive thing in your life. On the other hand, sometimes people fade out and then come back in as though nothing has changed. No matter how long the relationship lasted or how present they were in your life, everyone you meet has a purpose. You may not even realize that they changed you or made you see the world in a different light but they did. Even simple acquaintances have the ability to affect you in ways you cannot sense.

People come and people go

Some have more time than others

But everyone will make their imprint on your existence

Maybe it’s a passing snide remark

Maybe it’s life long love

Maybe it’s a friendship that has reached its date of expiration

And maybe it’s teaching you the greatest lesson life has to offer

Some will guide you, some will follow you, some will walk with you

The ones who guide may expose a part of you to yourself you never knew existed

Those who follow will look to you for love and support

The ones who walk beside show you that you are never alone

Ask yourself,

Are they here for a reason, a season, or a lifetime?

At times the answer is clear

Other times it’s hazy and distant

Maybe you don’t care what it turns out to be

And sometimes, you have it completely wrong

They are you family, plain and simple

They’re your people and you’re stuck with them

You have them for a lifetime

That childhood best friend

You’re not really sure how much longer they’ll be in your life

But you’re really hoping it’s forever

All the people you pass on the street

You have stories to tell you that you may never hear

You’ll let the universe decide

The one who you thought was the one?

They’re not coming back

And you feel so naive

Regardless of how long someone’s in your life

Always remember it’s not always about that

It’s about who puts you first and makes you a priority

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
