It's that wonderful time of the year. Christmas is only a couple of weeks away, the weather is getting colder, and everyone is bustling about for presents.
You walk around and hear people say, "Tis the season" as an answer to nearly everything that comes up.
"It's getting cold out there..... Tis the season"
"This time of year is so stressful.....Tis the season"
"The mall is so crowded... Tis the season"
But in our hustle and bustle of December, have we forgotten what the season is really about? Tis the season.... for what?
Lets review:
'Tis the season... to be jolly (fa la la la la la la la la). Hmmmm, jolly, what's that word mean?
According to Webster's Dictionary, "jolly" is an adjective that means "to be happy or cheerful".
Outside of the dictionary definition, however, what does jolly mean to you? What does it mean to be happy?
Is it buying everyone presents?
Or just feeling less stressed?
Having the house cleaned?
Finishing the semester?
We all have our different definitions of happiness and that's what makes this season so much fun. Being happy is something personal and intimate, just for you. You have to choose your own happiness. Regardless of the busy time of the season and the stress it might brings, remember at the end of the day to be happy, truly beaming with joy.
But is being happy even for just this season? Why can't it be "tis the season" every season? A time to be joyful and really at peace with your life everyday for the rest of your life. We smile on the streets to strangers, as we hustle on our own way and then frown in the car away from the world. Inside, we are not truly joyful people. As this season progresses, and the new year begins, I challenge you to do whatever it takes to find your true joy and make every season "Tis the Season".
