I’m learning quickly that the second half of spring semester is very difficult. After spring break, it’s extremely hard to find your motivation to start those massive papers or projects. I am starting to think that I may need to use my phone GPS or buy a map to start looking for my lost motivation because it’s seriously impossible to locate. (I’m not going to lie, I am procrastinating my school work right now by writing this article because this is way more fun than writing a research paper). This is a problem that is very similar to what the characters on “The Office” face. They struggle with staying focused every hour of the day, thanks to their boss Michael Scott. That’s why they perfectly capture what it’s like to try to avoid procrastination while being very unmotivated.
The week before Spring Break:
The week after Spring Break:
Your current work ethic:
When you thought you had more time to finish that massive paper or project:
Your expression when a professor assigns 200 pages of reading in addition to the paper:
Your thoughts after working for 15 minutes:
When all of the fun spring activities are coming up, and you know you shouldn’t go to any of them because you have too much work. But you go anyway:
That moment when you finish a huge assignment:
Thirty seconds later when you remember all of the other work you still have:
Trying to get the momentum going on a paper:
When you find yourself going to the gym to avoid your work:
Dealing with the biggest distraction to your work -- yourself. It's not always your phone or your friends:
When you find yourself constantly daydreaming about summer:
The snappy attitude you develop with your friends when you are running on no sleep:
(But seriously, please be mindful of your friends' feelings too. We are all going through this, so try not to be like Michael Scott was to Dwight that day, or to poor Toby every day. Definitely don't treat your friends like Michael treats Toby.)
