Scientific ethics is one of the most important things that I stress upon. Lots of times, sadly, in the scientific community research can get stolen and the way science is going is taking a downward spiral. Ph.D. Professors sometimes, in the past, have stolen student's research or work and not given them enough or any credit at all. This makes many young researchers discouraged to continue pursuing an academic inquiry. Also, sometimes when they speak out, they can often get ridiculed by the community or their peers. This is not the only pressing issue of ethics in the scientific world.
Many people are wondering where our society is heading. Genetic Technology, AI, Cyber Warfare, etc. are all promising technologies but can end up being humanity's most costly mistakes. The rise of genetic manipulation can cross ethical biological boundaries as well as questions on what will happen next. Bioethics is an emerging field because of technologies like these, and human depopulation can be possible if we misuse powerful technologies for a greedy purpose.
Artificial Intelligence is also very promising. However, people like Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking, and many others have warned in the past of its dangers. If we try passing some sort of singularity where AI has an emotional intelligence or some sort of functional awareness, it can bring possible horrid ramifications. We can ultimately destroy human relationships, and may even bring part of a robotics revolution in which humans can be unaware of a sort of technological enslavement. Many technologies like these can benefit humanity if used in other different ways instead, again, we just need to be fairly careful.
