Texas, Arizona, Oregon, South Dakota, and Mississippi. All of these states have had school shootings within the past month. 14 people have been killed and 14 have been injured and we are doing NOTHING about this!
Most recently, on Oct. 9, one person died and three others were wounded in a shooting at Northern Arizona University. It is unclear what sparked the shooting, which took place near Mountain View Hall, a dormitory that houses most of the campus' students involved in Greek organizations.
Also on Oct. 9, one person died and another was injured after someone opened fire outside a dorm at Texas Southern University.
With so many school shootings, we still refuse to heighten the gun laws in order to obtain a license, or do anything to change gun laws.
We still to this day hear coverage of Sandy Hook and the people who were affected ultimately by this injustice. But, do we ever hear the statistics after Sandy Hook? Do we ever hear that there have been 78 deaths and 149 documented school shootings since Sandy Hook occurred on Dec. 14, 2012 according to Everytown.
We refuse to look at the numbers and facts because we constantly say, "oh that'll never happen in our town."
However, school shootings can happen anywhere and anytime, and since Sandy Hook, most states have had school shootings. So, don't sit here and tell me that "these things happen," as quoted by Donald Trump. Ranging from kindergartners bringing a firearm to class, to a student shooting a teacher in the face along with the rest of the classmates.
It is near impossible to find a solution to a big matter such as "school shootings." But we need to stop turning a cold shoulder to the school shootings happening every month. It is up to us to find a way to spread awareness of this matter and to stop potential shooters from committing the worst crime of all.
This video of Jim Jeffries perfectly describes how America is with our guns
