1. Oversleeping
We've all been there. You've set up multiple alarms for that class you have early in the morning. You wake up just to snooze one of them. You swear it's only gonna be for a little more. Five more minutes of precious sleep won't hurt, right? WRONG. Next thing you know, class has started. You get out of bed feeling disoriented, but needing to rush. It doesn't even matter that you're still in your PJs or that you don't brush your teeth. Gotta make it in time for those attendance quizzes! Every point counts!
2. Feeling paranoid about submitting an assignment
So you finally finished that long essay you've been working on all day. You go onto Catcourses or the website you have to submit your paper to. You choose the file and you're good. But are you really? It says you've already submitted it, but is it the right paper? Is everything good? MLA format? Word count? Works cited? Ahhhh. Deadline is getting closer! Oh well, good enough.
3. Dealing with intoxicated friends
We're all bound to engage in some social drinking in college. We drink just enough so that our friends won't have to keep bothering us about it. Then there are those friends who decide it's a good idea to get completely wasted. They're having so much fun, and quite frankly being selfish. Because who's going to have to take care of them? You. Fun. You're tempted to just leave them making fun of themselves or doing other embarrassing things, but you can't let that happen. Thanks to their decision, you're stuck making sure they get home safely and that they feel better when hangover hits them the morning after. Good thing you're a good friend.
4. Dealing with emotional friends
College is filled with many experiences. It can be such an emotional rollercoaster. Part of college is learning how to deal with these difficulties. However, we all have that one friend who just gets overly emotional about everything, and their life just has to be filled with constant drama. Then who do they go to? You. You who does not have a clue about how to comfort people. They're crying and pouring their hearts out to you, and you're just there thinking, "What should I say?" or, "What do I do? Should I hug them? Tell them it's okay?" So confused. You want to be a good friend, but maybe next time you should warn them that you're terrible at comforting people.
5. Running out of money
The year is going great. Financial aid and my summer job have given me enough money to survive. But then things happen: going out with friends, eating out, club dues, grocery. So many expenses, and the next thing you know, you're running low. Suddenly, you're on a tight budget. Now you're living on Top Ramen noodles and pizza every day. You're barely scraping by until the next time some cash flows in. But it's OK. Until then, you'll be as resourceful as can be. I'm sure the housing office or DC won't mind you taking a few napkins for yourself. Also, you've got some good friends who you can borrow some stuff from.
