Can our Education actually be a scam...Is there something wrong with the system?

People might wonder why I am saying that education can be a scam. Well, we all know that education is needed to understand the concepts of many things, like mathematics or science. In our time now, in order to get what we call “well-paid” job, we need some kind of degree in which we have to go to school and get educated. But, let’s really go into deep thought about the whole system and how it is all affecting us. For some it may be good or even bad, everyone has different views on this type of issue, so don’t get too offended while reading this.

Now, where do I begin, well first thing, why aren’t we all learning what is really out in the real world. The school makes us read all these books that are revised every couple of years with new information, so what is the right and wrong answer then? As people, we don’t only “learn” and “understand” things from what’s in the book, but rather from experience and seeing what is around us. That would be something that can let us see what is more likely to occur out there, I mean really, when was the last time where your teacher or professor taught you about something rather than what’s inside the book for a whole lecture? They should at least be having real life conversations about how to be confidence, why to do that? What opportunities can it give to you, stuff like that. Book are just books, they don’t have moral values or information of what the real truth is, most of them are just assumptions being made.

Education used to be a way out of poverty a long time ago. Now, it has changed, there is so much money to pay just for college and textbooks. We go out of debt and owe back so much money to the school. It’s crazy because this is like a little business running, all they care about is making money. If they want us to be “successful” and get a good career, then why not make education more affordable because not many people have the money for it. That is another reason why some rather go to a community college for 2 years, or even their whole 4 years. It’s like why can’t America’s education be somewhat like Norway’s where its tuition-free. I don’t know, but wouldn’t that make things a bit easier, rather than paying so much money and taking loans? Think about it.

Everyone has different opinion on this issue, and that is totally fine. I just believe this has been a problem for quite a while now, especially seeing many people complain about how much money they are paying or owing to the school. I can agree with them too because as a commuter in college, I am paying the same amount as dorming in Rutgers University, which is pretty insane. But, I think the real question is, is the educational system scamming all of us?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
