Oak trees for this old heart

Turning time in only snippets.

Cold soft drinks in mason jars full

Tension's border's are let down.

How our moon shines so bright,

Yet, the rest of the world is dimmed.

And the light still touches our souls evenly

With its yolk ever so thin.

Shall we celebrate the past

And set out the blankets?

To gaze at the stars

That foretold our future,

Or allow the sorrow,

Once again

Of tomorrow.

Determine what you said we'll forever have,

"Our love won't dare go astray, for it's infinite.

Something that the age of our skin can never define,

Our eyes have only so long to witness,

Yet the trust in our spirit can never let go of."

I need you to believe,

Right now,

That we'll forever be
