1. You wake up on the first day of school like...
It was the first day of the next four years of your life. You left behind the hometown you grew so comfortable with and entered a whole new environment where the reality of making all new friends and being on your own weighed heavy on your mind.
2. With the thought of starting over....
You couldn't remember what it felt like to find people who you could be close with.You didn't know how all these new people you were about to meet would think of you. As you went to your first few floor meetings that your RA planned, you looked around at the 20 or 30 new strangers who began sharing their fun fact about themselves and couldn't think that anyone else would compare to the friends you spent your whole childhood with.

Fast forward nine months later and you realize all those past thoughts you once had at the beginning of freshmen year are now buried beneath the countless memories that you and your new squad have made together. Then, you even find yourselves walking down memory lane, wishing you could do it all over again.
Because you guys realize that tomorrow is the day where everyone starts going their separate ways for the next three and a half months of summer.
You all think about that summer job or internship you'll have to get up every morning 5 days a week to attend. Or that family vacation in the works that includes your very annoying Aunt who always has to ask you questions covering every aspect of your life (and you know Mom booked it for too long already). Let's not forget those poor unfortunate souls who don't have any plans in the works and just see sitting on their couch all day long as their fun-filled summer, but they know by hour two they'll be wishing they could go back to school with every fiber of their being because the boredom is just driving them insane.
The cool thing about friends at college is that it couldn't be easier to get in touch with them. Serious information could be divulged with friends by just a quick walk to their dorm or even a sprint down the hallway. With summer approaching, some friends may now be counties, states, or even oceans away.
College friends are unique. They're different from your home friends because you basically live with your friends at college! Not that childhood friends are any less important, but nothing is off limits with these goons. Everyone knows everything about each other and you actually couldn't be any closer (literally).
Let's also not forget how much you will all miss the brutally honest opinions of different stylists you now call your friends and your broadened options for potential outfits from their closets.
Some of you may even be taking some summer classes at home, but you also remember you have a sibling at home that probably misses annoying the hell out of you and you know that's not going to go over well.
No matter how bad the food may have tasted at your school, it was still enjoyable to have "family dinners" and just talk and laugh over meals with friends (how much do you miss your mother's cooking though?).
It's hard to enjoy the company of every single person you've met at college. Whether it was the arrogant guy you sat next to in freshmen seminar, the obnoxious girl you guys always ran into when going out, or even your very own roommate, there will be at least one person who you all are probably excited to never see again after this year is over.
You should all take the time now to thank that one gracious friend who dragged you to class and made sure you were on top of your work. Can I have you with me throughout life at all times?
But you all come to terms with the fact that the summer season and move-out date is inevitable, and you guys will be forced to hold on to the memories you have on those frequent cases you're missing school from home.
We all know that no matter how much home remains to be "where the heart is," it just can't provide the abundance of activities and endless playdates with friends that college can. So for now, FaceTime, and phone calls, and Snapchat will be our primary forms of communication for the next three and a half months because no one is no longer down the hall from one another. I know it may be cliché to say and utterly false in it's overbearing way of being positive but, August will be here sooner than we all know it!
