Sarah Elizabeth Lewis Took Over Selena Gomez's Instagram To Discuss Black Lives Matter, Here's What I Learned

Selena Gomez continued her powerful takeover series with Sarah Elizabeth Lewis. Lewis is a professor at Harvard University where she teaches art history and African and African American studies focusing on the relationship between images, race, and justice.

Lewis is the definition of a hard-working and dedicated advocate. She is the main person behind the Vision & Justice Project, the first issue of Aperture Foundation Magazine, and is the author of the book, "The Rise."

She's also just an all-around incredible person, as you can tell from ALL of her achievements!

Lewis challenged us to think outside of the box and understand that just law alone hasn't gotten us to this point in history. She pushed back that law combined with our social narratives and norms help shape the culture around us and how we view things in out everyday life.

Take the time to really think about this question because it's important and imperative to answer this question about where your bias maybe without even realizing it.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
