Dear Santa Claus,
Thank you for being the better part of my childhood, and the best part of my adulthood.
Thank you for always putting me on the nice list and keeping the joy alive in me. Thank you for bringing me hope and love on Christmas day. Thank you for teaching me about the importance of the birth of Christ and the St. Nicholas side of who you are.
You were only the better part of my childhood because before November and after January, the child that I was, never thought twice about you until it was time to start making a list again. For those three months you brought me more joy, love, and hope than I could imagine as a child. The memories I have waking up, sneaking a peek at my presents, giggling with my sister in her room until it was time to “get up”, and waiting at the top of the stair until my parents had coffee are priceless and I owe them all to you. The gifts you brought me were sweet and thoughtful, but the best part was that I got to share them with my sister and brother. We experienced Christmas as a family, celebrating the birth of Christ and loving each other until we passed out after having too much pie.
You are the best part of my adulthood because you are with me every month of the year not just the three months centered around Christmas. You are with me every day whether I call you on the phone or see you in person. You bring me joy, love, and hope every day of the year by your kindness and generosity, not just to me but everyone around you.
Santa, you keep the child alive in me by making me spend time playing games with my family and cleaning my room to stay on the nice list. You never let me forget that you are real or else the gifts magically stop coming.
Most importantly, you show me the importance of Christ in everyday things. You show me the spirit of Santa in the way you both give back to the community and to your families. Santa, you are the two most important people in my life and I am so thankful every day that God gave me the best Santa in the world.
The spirit of Christmas is not about how many gifts I receive, but whom I spend my Christmas with. I am so lucky I get to spend the holidays with friends, but so blessed that on December 25th every year, I get to spend the day waking up with my brother, tackling my sister until she wakes up, sitting on the top of the stairs waiting for mom and dad to get ready like I did as a child, and spending all day with the four most important people in my life.
So finally, Santa, all I want for Christmas this year is for you to know that I love you.
Love,
Your daughter.
