The Sandy Hook tragedy never goes unspoken. Everywhere you go someone will bring it up since our world is filling up with violence more quickly everyday. Although one thing is for sure, in order to keep those children’s education’s alive they needed a new school building to be sure they are safe and learning at the same time.
After the shooting the old Chalk Hill Middle School building in Monroe, CT opened its arms in 2013 to have these little kids and every staff member who survived that shooting. For three years children were learning and playing at this school acting like nothing happened even though it did. Everyone in Monroe couldn’t be happier to help out such a cause.
An article I read dated June 18th, 2016 on the Monroe Patch website discussed how Sandy Hook Elementary is going to work this coming school year. They have built a whole new building in Newtown, CT for Sandy Hook Elementary School and will be saying goodbye to the Chalk Hill Middle School building forever.
There was a Strawberry Festival on June 18th and 19th which had kids paint little flower pots with red and green paint. A sign on the tent presented itself as bright as can be saying the following: “Thank You Berry Much Monroe! (A strawberry as a heart), Sandy Hook Elementary.” It showed how much the Sandy Hook truly cares for its communities and the other communities around it.
Sandy Hook is truly a town where everyone knows everyone and cares about one another. Truthfully, I am not just saying this; ever since Monroe, CT opened its arms in this kind of gesture for three whole years it can have us thinking, “Are we capable of being this kind to everyone we know?” This act proves anyone from Sandy Hook is welcome back anytime to the Monroe Community; it’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you later.
