The cure for anything is some salty air and peace of mind! I have lived near the ocean for as long as I can remember and but I was late to the game as far as thinking the ocean was the cure for everything. I would say in the past year I have learned more about the freedom you can find in life by being in and near the ocean. The ocean is a funny thing, for something that is so massive could also be so calming. The ebb and flow as the waves crash against the sea are such a beautiful example of the highs and lows we find in our day to day. The funniest part about the ocean is, though, it never stops coming back to the shore, kind of like how our lives don’t stop having ups and downs.
I’ve always liked the beach but have come to love it based on the fact that it’s honestly the most calming place to be when the world seems to be falling apart. Just to hear the waves hit the shore is a reassurance that life will be ok because there is a greater plan. When I think about being free, I see that in the ocean and how free the ocean seems to be. It doesn’t wait for the perfect moment it just does its thing! To be able to live like that would be a dream honestly. We live in a society where life is constantly, to be secure in confident enough in myself would be a cool state of mind.
The ocean can teach us a lot. The biggest thing the ocean has taught me is how to be faithful in my walk with Jesus. What I mean by that is Jesus is faithful to us in ways we can’t even fathom, and the ocean is superbly faithful to the shore. We can see so much of the Lord in the ocean. The Creator of the universe made the ocean and, therefore, all the faithfulness that is in the ocean. Another thing the ocean can teach is how to live in freedom. The ocean doesn’t worry about if what it’s doing is too much or if it should calm it down. The ocean in all its glory is freely itself. We as people are constantly trying to fit in with societies ideals of who we should be or what our lives should look like. We should take a lesson from the ocean and just be freely us.
The ocean never wavers or questions its purpose, so maybe we shouldn’t either. If we were to live our lives more like the ocean what would life look like for us? The ocean has provided me with some of my best memories as I’ve discovered myself. The ocean is really a cure for everything because every time you go back to it, it meets you right where you were. The ocean is like a faithful old friend, and I am forever grateful the friend I have in the ocean.
