Going into College I was very unsure if rushing was something I actually wanted to do. I knew that it was a good way to make friends and I had always heard my friends parents say that this was how they made their life long friends. I decided to give it a shot and I honestly went into it without knowing much about UGA's greek life. Ultimately it ended up being a really great decision and I truly believe that there is the perfect place for everyone. Rush week honestly is a crazy experience and so far I have never participated in something like it. Yes it is tiring, but when it is all said and done it is just another great experience you will get to look back on after college.

The Good

First of all, be yourself. You are going to meet so many great people and have so many hilarious conversations waiting in line with the other girls doing through the exact same experience as you. Everyone is so exhausted and it is fun to just joke about all of the crazy things that are going to happen. It is also a good way to help break out of your shell, it really gives you your first glance at how college social life works. It really is a lot different than high school and for me this was something I was really looking forward to. You realize that now you have the chance to make friends with people who are exactly like you and have similar interests as you. Make sure you talk about what you actually like to do and what you are passionate about, there is no reason to fake anything, these are going to be your future friends you might as well be yourself from the being. This is also a week where you get to wear your personality to its maximum. So if you are a girl who loves to get up and make sure your makeup and outfit is perfectly done or if you are a girl who really just likes to go for a natural look, make sure you do it because how you present yourself is always the first impression.

The Bad

Going to go ahead and tell you this now - you might think you have had the most amazing conversation of your life and that you could already imagine yourself living in the house, but the next day you see that they have dropped you. This is just the harsh reality of rush week, but you have to go in with the mindset that everything happens for a reason. Something you will hear over and over again this week is "trust the process", yes it gets very annoying when you feel as though the love of your life has just slipped through your hands, but it is very true. You will end up exactly where you are supposed to be, even if this is not in a sorority. This week does not determine your worth in anyway, so remember to always keep your head high and know who you are.

The Ugly

This is honestly just the funny part. In the moment it might seem like the world is ending when your shoe breaks or you forget your lipstick, but this is what you will look back on and laugh about when thinking about rush week. Getting from house to house is very hectic and it is hilarious watching girls run down Milledge (until it happens to you). The most embarrassing thing that happened to me was when I was being rushed into a house and my shoe got caught on the door frame and I tripped in front of all the sorority girls doing there chants. In the moment I wanted to cry but it ended up being a great conversation starter!!! Trust me, you will have your own crazy experiences and you will also hear/see a lot from your future friends. One of my best friends bruised her heel during the beginning of the and had to wear a boot and I remember seeing her and thinking wow sucks for that girl, and to this day we still laugh about it.

Basically, enjoy the week and every experience that you have in college. It is a crazy and hectic time but I have made some of the best memories of my life so far, so take in every moment as deeply as you can!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
