Everyone knows the popular Chainsmokers' song, but few people know what it is really about. I am sure you probably think that it is only about two lovers, but it is even more than that. Little known fact, the song is actually about the hit film "The Titanic." Don't believe me? Here, let me explain.
Some of the lyrics are as followed:
"Taking it slow, but it's not typical. He already knows that my love is fire. His heart was a stone, but then his hands roamed."
Heart was a stone. Diamonds are stones. The heart of the sea was a heart shaped diamond. Coincidence? I think not.
"Well I'll be your daydream. I'll be your favorite things. We could be beautiful"
I mean, first off who could protest the beauty that is Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet? And also, Jack is Rose's daydream—by that I mean that Jack is someone who pulls Rose out of her darkest place and reminds her what it means to live.
"Get drunk on the good life, I'll take you to paradise."
This is referring to the scene when Jack takes Rose to a party with the lower classes on the ship after having dinner with her family.
Like, I could not make this stuff up if I tried.
"Say you'll never let me go."
This needs no explanation.
"Deep in my bones I can feel you, take me back to a time only we knew, hideaway."
The whole story of Titanic is told from Rose at the age of 104. It is her reminiscing about their love story because she only holds on to Jack in her memories.
"We could waste the night with an old film"
This is what happened when Rose and Jack were in that car. They just watched an old film, duh.
"Say you'll never let me go."
"Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah"
What the boat captain said when the Titanic hit the iceberg, probably.
"Say you'll never let me go."
And the song is called "Roses."
Roses? Rose? Hello!
It is, basically, clearly shown for everyone to see. The Chainsmokers have all the love for Jack and Rose that the rest of the world does. And, if we are being honest, the repeating of "Say you'll never let me go" is really all you need to be convinced. Even though she did, in fact, let go. Maybe not mentally, but definitely physically. *Sigh*
