With all that's going on in the world, it's a first response to hate and be angry. Our own neighbors and brothers have polar opposite views than our own, and that is the most frustrating thing in the world.
It's an age-old story: fighting tooth and nail to get another person to see eye-to-eye with us while burning bridges in the process. Both parties end up bitter and angry, wanting the other person to suffer for their beliefs. Why? Why is it so important that we believe the same things?
It seems as if we are walking around condemning anyone that disagrees with us, and spouting anger whenever anyone questions our beliefs. Imagine what the world would be like if we all believed the same things. How boring would that be?
We need innovators; people willing to blend black and white in order to produce a more optimistic, rational shade of gray. I'm not saying that people that have black and white opinions are wrong; I just think that you'll get farther and make more progress with compromise.
Life is about finding balance, and if something makes you angry then you either need to do something proactive about it or realize that holding grudges is only damaging yourself.
Stretch to see from someone else's point of view when they twist around to see yours.
Acknowledge when others are right and you're wrong.
Admit when you don't know something and be willing to grow.
Be an advocate for what you believe in. Be convincing. You never know when they'll think back on your words and start to understand your point.
There are so many things in the world that we would miss if it weren't for others different perspectives. Just think about the last time you received advice that opened your eyes to new possibilities. They are out there, you just have to be willing to look for them.
"People won't care how much you know until they know how much you care." -Theodore Roosevelt
