Every year Alpha Delta Pi at UNC Chapel Hill hosts an event called the Ronathon 5k. It is a 5k through the beautiful campus of UNC. The proceeds from the event benefit the Ronald McDonald House, Alpha Delta Pi's national philanthropy. Saturday, November 8th, 2014 will be UNC's 8th annual race.
The runners consist of Alpha Delta Pi members, UNC students, Chapel Hill and Durham residents, and anyone else who wants to run to support the cause. Although running in the race is a great way to show support, it isn't the only way to help. Donations can be made to the organization and Ronathon t-shirts are on sale.

The 7th annual race in 2013 was record-breaking with over 400 participants of all ages and over 1,000 t-shirts sold. The amount of money raised for the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill was $14,332.92, and we hope to exceed those numbers in the upcoming race. The sorority chapter's two-year pledge for the expansion of the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill will be fulfilled after this year's race.
For those who don't know, Ronald McDonald House Charities is an organization that helps support families with children who are ill. The organization recognizes the financial strain associated with sickness and works to lessen the strain. They do this in many ways, including providing housing for the family near a hospitalized child, helping with the expense of staying together as a family in another city, and even helping families obtain medical or dental health care in a vulnerable community.
