Getting dressed in the dark is never an easy thing to do. Especially when things do not get put back where they belong. In this comedy sketch, a guy mistakenly wears his girlfriend’s romper into public and tries to pull it off as manly as possible.
Jake got dressed in the dark every morning in his usual fashion so as not to wake his slumbering girlfriend Becca. After hitting the snooze button a few times too many, Jake finally jumped out of bed. It was far too late to scour his hamper for anything suitable to wear so he grabbed the first thing he could lay his hand on. Without a second thought, he threw it on, gargled some Listerine then stormed out of the door.
Every morning Jake waited on the shuttle with his best buddy Jayson. It was during this time that they would discuss the latest sports news. On this particular morning, however, the conversation had more to do with what Jake was sporting than it did with actual sports.
“Dude what the #$%@ are you wearing?!” Jayson said in the loudest pitch he could find.
“What’s wrong with my gear?” Jake responded as he slowly glared down at his outfit.
His clear white face was covered in tomatoes sauce as he tried to come up with a way to play this one off.
“Oh… this is a super comfy jumpsuit that I picked up,” Jake said as nonchalant as possible.
“Well, you should have put it right back down. In fact, what would possess you to even pick it up in the first place? Let me guess, you were shopping on the wrong side of Ross again. I don’t know how much times I gotta tell you Jake…electronics in the front, furniture in the back, guys to the left…women to the right.”“For your information, I didn’t buy this. It was a gift from Becca.”
“I find that hard to believe. I think you stole them out of her closet. What the heck is that a man-per?”
“It’s a RompHim,” Jake said sheepishly.
“It’s disgusting that’s what it is. It looks like a leotard and a onesie had a weird love child. I’m sorry Jake. But I can’t be seen with a dude dressed as a girl. It’s just…weird” snorted Jayson.
Jake found it increasingly difficult to get through the day without the occasional looks of hate and disgust. Passersby would forcefully knock him out of their way as they walked by. Jake just couldn’t wait for the day to end. He knew that life after today would never be the same.
NOTE TO READER:
Sometimes it is hard to accept a new and different idea or fashion statement. Regardless, one should be mindful of those that feel stepped on due to who they are or what they wear. We live in a society where we should not only celebrate similarities but differences as well. After all, diversity signifies a great portion of our ecology. Sticks and stones break bones, words leave wounds. Individuality is cool. One Love.
