Rizzle Kicking It

For many people, this might be the first time you've heard of Rizzle Kicks. However, they should be more popular than they are. They're amazing people, make amazing music, and they have many things going for them. Look them up, listen to them, and you'll be hooked. Here are some reasons they rock as much as they do.

1: They are British. That's right; British rappers. Arguably one of the most attractive accents, and they sing with it. Jordan "Rizzle" Stephens and Harley "Sylvester" Alexander-Sule grew up in Brighton, England, and they show it.

2: They're still young, so they can only get better and more popular. Both members are in their early twenties, with only two albums out. They have sold over a million singles and almost a million albums, but that's only in the UK. They have so much potential, and more of us should recognize it. Also, they've only been to the US on tour once, and that was to be a backup band for someone else. They are only going to get better, and getting hype in the US would start so much for them.

3: Speaking of being a backup band, they're collaborated with multiple artists, all of which are great. They've worked with Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Olly Murrs, and Foster the People (but let's be honest, I could've stopped the list at Ed Sheeran. They're actually, like, great friends with Ed Sheeran. We should know of them). They remix songs to rap with the artists, and make great versions. They also have taken some other songs and rapped over them, such as Frank Sinatra, Gorillaz, and Arctic Monkeys.

4: Now let's actually talk about their rapping. We've already mentioned that they sound great doing it, but what they rap is also great. They're a group that hardly swears, and does not degrade women. At most, there are maybe two swears on average per song, and they talk about liking sex. And one of their lines, from their song "This Means War", is "I don't want a bad bitch. I want a chick that will slap up a guy if he calls her a bad bitch." But they rap about love, following dreams, growing up, themselves, and for the most part nothing really bad. They're just a couple of dudes that like singing. They say in their song, "The Reason I Live", that "I'm not a king amongst men, I remember that I love beer, I love rhymes, I love sex." So they're just normal guys.

5: Not just are they normal, chill guys, but they're also really good people too. They help the England football team and have been long time supporters of the Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity that is to improve the experience for 13-24-year-olds going through cancer treatment, and funds staff who are teenage cancer specialists.

6: Their lyrics and style are also great. Some examples of smart lyrical use include "I paint what I wanna be like a portrait. You let other people paint you (poor trait)," "Damn right I'm a slut you know this, but I'm a boy so it's all good," "Reality TV is morphine give me that now let me ease the pain," and "I might just join the mile high club, only problem being that I couldn't give a flying f*ck." They're clever. And on top of the smart lyrics, the rhythms they use are very good to jive to. Their rap style and music almost has a taste of jazz in it, giving a bit of an old-timey feel. Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff's "Summertime" is a good example of the way they rap, and that's actually one of the songs they have a remix for.

So now we know how great Rizzle Kicks is. They're a smart British hip hop group that has a lot of connections and consists of two good people. What's not to love? Hopefully, this has piqued your interest, and next time you're tumbling through your music, look them up. They're worth your time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
