Well, America, you voted. And you have chosen to throw this country into economic recession. You have chosen to increase the retirement age by 5-10 years. You have chosen to tear loving families apart. And for what? Because you don’t like your government? Because you hate X group of people? Because you were too stupid to know what was at stake? Because you just wanted to watch the country burn around you, so you could piss on the ashes?

Welcome to your Fourth Reich paradise.

I know, I know, you’ve heard the Trump/Hitler comparisons a million times and brushed them off as nothing. Trump has proclaimed that 14th Amendment citizens are not real Americans. He has proposed mass deportation, but anyone with common sense can tell you that is impossible. So what will he turn to? Internment camps appear to be the most likely scenario. Denying reality takes far less thinking than accepting a hard truth. But there it is. Trump’s campaign has drawn the worst of the worst out of their holes, and there are far more of them than we could ever have believed right here in America.

Donald Trump himself once asked in my home state of Iowa: “How stupid are the people of Iowa and the United States?” You have your answer. Stupid beyond belief. Stupid enough to burn their country down and ask you why they smell smoke. Ignorance carries power in numbers. The less educated a group of people is, the easier they are to manipulate. And that is precisely what has happened here. It is far easier to incite people with fear than with reason.

But where do we go from here? How do we dig ourselves out of this hole?

Fight.

This is not the end. Trump and his supporters will try to hold this country hostage, but we will not let them. Now, more than ever, we need fighters willing to combat this regime. Get involved in the political field early and make your voices heard. Ensure that Trump will only have four years to try and bury this country instead of eight. And, most importantly, get out and VOTE in the 2018 midterm election! Especially if you are in traditionally red states. All 435 House seats will be up for grabs and 33 of the Senate seats, as well. Now is the time to look ahead and see the path that must be taken to fix the damage. We must work to delay Trump’s regime by two years. If so, we can wrest control of Congress back from his and tie his hands for the remainder of his presidency.

Now is not the time to run. Now is not the time to hide. Now is the time to rise and fight! If you know a Trump supporting business, don’t purchase their goods or services. Hit them in their wallets. Pay attention to Congressional candidacies and research each and every one! And get out and VOTE in 2018!

This is not the end. This is a challenge to all progressive thinkers in this country to rise above. Do not run from this. We need every one of us to stand united against tyranny.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
