With almost a four-year gap between her last album "Unapologetic" and her current "Anti," Rihanna has definitely made her fanbase, #RihNavy, more than satisfied with her impeccable vocal ability, but also with giving this awaited album to them for free, on the music app known as Tidal
Within the first day, Rihanna’s album was released it was downloaded more than 1.5 million times in the first 15 hours. Those numbers are only counting the amount of times this album was downloaded within Tidal. The album leaked a day or two before Rihanna had even announced it. Due to the fact that this album has already been certified platinum by the RIAA, I think it is safe to say that leak did not hurt Rihanna’s numbers.
From the start her amazing growth is shown. I knew about five seconds in that the wait for Rihanna’s album was worth it. Rihanna starts out by drawing you in by her captivating Barbadian accent, and demonstrating that her vocal ability has intensely grown. Rihanna’s has stepped away from her catchy, pop sounding tune of music and turned towards a much more unpredictable and honest sound. From the brokenhearted to the in love to single people, this album has a sound for everyone to relate to.
After this album, I am a self-proclaimed member of the #RihNavy, “Anti." The album starts out with the song with an amazing song "Consideration" (feat SZA. Rihanna and Sza’s angelic voices harmonize so well together.) Rihanna lets you know off the back with this song that she is no longer her same Rihanna we know and loved from her 2012 album, "Unapologetic." This is without a doubt this is a masterpiece.
I would classify this album as the ultimate relationship album. The words within so many of Rihanna’s songs on this album "Anti" are the words you need but don’t want to hear.
