The Truth On Animal Rights

Why animals do not deserve to be treated the way they are.

Most people enjoy having a nice fuzzy sweater to wear on a cold day, or makeup to put on and make yourself feel good. But do you know what they have to do to make you those clothes, or that makeup? I know everyone here has a very busy schedule and I would just like to tell you, the company of L’Oreal all how honored I am that you took the time out of your day to hear me talk to you about why I think you should stop testing on animals.

Animals and humans are not the same. We do not react the same way to things. Just because a chemical does not react badly on an animal does not mean it will react the same on a human. So why would we test on animals, if it is not 100% worth it, and guaranteed to work on us. “Relying on animal research and testing to protect and improve human health is not only unsafe, but also expensive, time-consuming, and unreliable.” According to http://www.neavs.org/research/limitations. I understand all other points, saying that we need to find out somehow if it is okay to use on humans, but the other points simply just do not sit right with me. “Studies show that if you flipped a coin to guess how a human will respond to a certain drug, your prediction would actually be as accurate as if you tested the drug on a nonhuman animal.” I think this statistic is very eye opening. It proves that animal testing is basically a 50-50 shot. What happens if it is the bad 50%? People die? Is that okay with you? I know I now feel unsafe using products tested on animals, knowing it really did not help. This proves animals are being tested on for no good reason. We can use other ways to test these products out. Or if they have that much of a risk of being a danger to us, maybe we just shouldn't use them at all.

Could you imagine being trapped in a cold, dark, cage not even big enough for you to turn around? It would be torture. This is what animals are going through. The cages are cold, dark, and wet. Giving all these animals diseases (which also does not help the credibility of testing on animals.) It is inhumane, and unnatural. The way these animals are treated need to be stopped. If anyone has a pet, could you imagine your pet being treated the way these animals are? Treating animals like this is abuse, and your company is apart of it. Stop promoting animal abuse by letting these scientists continue on torturing these animals. Animal testing needs to be banned in every city, every state, and every country.

Animal testing is cruel, and inhumane. We have prisons full of murderers who could be perfect for testing on. With testing on criminals we would then be 100% guaranteed that the product was safe or unsafe to use on humans, which we could never possibly get while using animals. Animals are being tortured every day, for doing nothing wrong. It is torture, and not how living creatures should be treated. Although I do understand that we need to put human safety first, testing on animals is not the way to do it. If you stop animal testing with your company, you could be helping. One company at a time we can overcome the horrendous process of animal testing.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
