In an article posted by the Nashville Gab on late Saturday night, July 8th, it was revealed that the drummer of All Time Low, Rian Dawson had ended his engagement to longtime girlfriend, Cassadee Pope, former frontwoman of Hey Monday, after getting engaged earlier this year. The couple had announced their engagement on February 10, a few days before the 2017 Grammy Awards. Cassadee's duet with Chris Young, called "Think of You," was nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
The Nashville Gab wrote that "their representative has confirmed 'they have amicably ended their relationship, but remain friends, supportive of each other's careers, and maintain the utmost respect for one another.'"
Cassadee and Rian started dating in 2009 when Cassadee was on tour with her band, Hey Monday, who are no longer together. Rian was also on the road with All Time Low at the time.
At this point in time, neither Cassadee or Rian have commented on their break up on any of their social media accounts. The last time that Cassadee had posted about Rian was on Instagram on April 25. She posted a picture of the two on a date night before they both went on their separate tours.
Hearing that Cassadee and Rian had split after being together since 2009 honestly broke my heart. I showed the article to one of my friends and she said that "love was dead" because we both shipped the couple and had been following them since about 2015.
I noticed that something was up with them when Rian was no longer posting about her like he used to, and when neither of them was liking each other's tweets or Instagram post, and my suspicions proved to be true when I read the article. It was like I was also a part of the breakup, I could feel my heart crumble into a million little pieces while reading it.
Hearing about their break-up reminds me that they are just like us; things happen and people decide that they don't want to be together anymore. Even though that it's heartbreaking, it is, unfortunately, the way that life goes sometimes. Although we don't know the reason behind the breakup, at least we can live in peace knowing that it didn't end in an ugly fight.
My heart is still broken and I am still struggling to find the words as to how I feel about one of my favorite couples breaking up. However, I wish Cassadee and Rian all the best of luck in their careers, and I am still a huge fan of both of them.
