“Hello” is quite the title for Adele’s new come back song. So…hello it’s me, reviewing from the other side. The side where there is a bunch of screaming girls trying to belt out to the new hit from the singing wonder.
The one thing that everyone could probably agree on about her new album is that the woman can sing! Her voice is powerful and amazing. Her singing voice is one many wish they had.
Maybe…too many. The only problem I have with the new single is the people (like, everyone who isn’t Adele) who sing it. Picture this…you’re standing in a bar, hanging out, enjoying your time. All of a sudden, “Hello” comes on. Tons of girls surrounding you start to belt out the lyrics in a most unpleasing manner. The lyrics are belted out in a way that barely resembles the correct version of the song. The high notes are sung completely off key. It’s anything but soothing to the human ears.
I am usually one for bursting out the lyrics to songs you love and not caring who is around you. Believe me, I really am. However, there is something about this particular song that irritates me just a tad bit more than usual. Perhaps it’s the fact that it’s Adele and she is an icon in the music world. Her classic, nonchalant way of acting like she is just as normal as the rest of us is humbling. It’s humbling and shocking because she has a voice that is anything but normal. And some how that hasn’t gotten to her head.
I can give a lot of props to the people who can sing the song like Adele, or pleasantly put their own touches on it. However, as a person who appreciates her talent, it gets under my skin the way people scream it aloud in public settings.
Go ahead girl, sing it in the car. Sing it in the shower. Sing it to your ex. Sing it with your friends. Sing it in your head. Sing it loudly, if you so please.
But, I guess what I am trying to say is if you see me in public and “Hello” comes on, stay away far away from me if you are not Adele herself. Or "Goodbye" is what I'll be singing...
