10 Restaurants In Blacksburg, VA That Will Have You Salivating Over Your Keyboard
Kate Wollenberg

After living in Blacksburg for the past four years, I would like to think I can make my way around and as a girl who loves to eat, I have had my fair share of taste testing what Blacksburg has to offer. Whether the event is for a date or you haven't seen your best friend in what feels like forever, Blacksburg has some perfect restaurants to relax and pig out. I have compiled a list of some of my favorite Blacksburg restaurants and might help you decide what to eat for tonight.

10. Benny Marzano's

Where else can you get pizza the size of your head? The pizza is relatively cheap considering the size of the slice and some of their specialty pizzas can rock your world. Highly recommend the pepperoni pizza, very classic and tasty.

9. Our Daily Bread

If you love brunch, go here. The food is fantastic and you get a lot for what you pay for. Did I mention their pastries are heavenly? Highly recommend the pancakes and hash browns, you won't regret it.

8. El Rodeo

Perfect place for cheap drinks and cheap food. Whether you start your downtown adventure here with a jumbo marg or really craving chimichangas for the day, this restaurant is one to definitely eat at. Highly recommend the chimichangas, fajitas and enchiladas.

7. Gillie's

Not only is getting brunch on the Hokie Bucket List, but Gillie's brunch is a staple in friendships. They are a vegetarian/vegan restaurant but believe me, even if you only eat meat, you have to try this. Their lunch and dinner menus are also fantastic, highly recommend the black bean burger and French toast.

6. Sharkey's

They have specials basically every day but the best special is Monday with a buy one burger get one free and honestly, one of the best burger places I have ever eaten at. The No Name Burger is definitely my favorite but you could not go wrong with any of their burgers. Happy hour is also one to not miss.

5. Sake House

I believe this is the best sushi shop in Blacksburg and on Mondays they have half priced sushi. The atmosphere is very calm and perfect for a date or catching up with an old friend. I highly recommend Blacksburg Maki and Salmon Nigri, you will slip into a food coma after eating your weight in sushi but 110% worth it.

4. PK's Bar and Grill

I love PK's for their pizza and beers on draft, as well on Thursdays they have Tijuana Toss where you could potentially get a free pizza as long as you order something else on the menu (get the buffalo chicken dip). I have had my fair share of pizza and knowing what is good pizza after growing up with Buffalo, New York pizza which is to die for, and PK's is definitely good pizza. The crust and sauce is amazing so go ahead and give it a try.

3. Marco and Luca's

One of my favorite, favorite places to go eat. Marco and Luca's is super cheap and produce high-quality Chinese food. I highly recommend the dumplings and make sure you get multiple orders because you won't want to stop eating those for days.

2. The Cellar

Best. Italian. In. Blacksburg. Their pizza, pasta, calzones, you really can't go wrong with the Cellar. They also have a bar directly under the restaurant so that is pretty convenient. Anything on their menu is absolutely wonderful and if your parents come visit you or you are stopping by, eat here. Highly recommend the chicken parm.

1. Cabo Fish Taco

If you have ever talked to me, I rant and rave about how Cabo is my favorite restaurant in Blacksburg. At first, I was weary because fish tacos sound disgusting and I would much rather stay with traditional Mexican food, but holy smokes was I wrong. I have only ever had their tacos, mainly SOY GINGER SHRIMP TACOS, but I am 100% sure the rest of their food is just as good. If you are ever in Blacksburg, eat here immediately, my mouth is watering thinking about these tacos.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
