Respect Your Roommates With Following The Unspoken Rules

Living with roommates can sometimes be a struggle. But learning how to get along is very important. Roommates are the ones you spend a lot of time with and have your ups and downs but here are some unspoken rules from roommates.

1. We will have a Christmas tree.

2. And a Christmas card with ugly sweaters.

3. Decorations for every holiday is a must.

4. If you have a problem, address it to the person. No sticky-notes. Deal with it upfront and work it out.

5. GOLDEN RULE: Their stuff is your stuff; your stuff is theirs. Respect it.

6. But you should really ask before you borrow anything.

7. Or be sneaky enough not to get caught.

8. EVERYONE CLEANS.

9. Please, don’t steal my food.

10. Just ask and I’m sure we can work something out.

11. Some problems are solved by cuddling.

12. Others by heavy drinking.

13. Or Chinese food.

14. And of course WINE!

15. Speaking of wine, Wine Wednesday is every week.

16. Tour de Franzia will happen a few times.

17. Sometimes, we will get too drunk getting ready to go out.

18. That’s OK.

19. As a roommate, it is your job to talk me out of stupid drunk decisions.

20. And drunk texts.

21. If you puke, clean it up.

22. But we take care of each other when we had a little too much to drink.

23. Sometimes, you will watch TV for 12 hours.

24. That’s OK, too!

25. Sometimes, you might say something mean to your roommates because you’re in a bad mood.

26. That’s not OK. You must apologize.

27. Roommate: If your roommate is having a bad day and says something mean, try not to take it to heart and accept their apology.

28. Turn off the lights when you are not in the room.

29. Split all bills evenly.

30. Keep up on your rent.

31. If you are going to the store, ask your roommates if they need anything.

32. All decor must be agreed on by all.

33. If you're going to bring a “friend” over, make sure the roommates know so they don’t walk in.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
