Move in day is lingering in the near future, and it is time to decide how you want the year to go. Starting good habits from the beginning can help you make this your best year yet. It has hard to stay on top of things when the year is in full swing, and it is even harder to turn over a new leaf when the stress of the new year is getting to you. That is why you have to start right and turn good habits into your daily routine. When you can be on the outside of the school year looking in, like you are right now, it is easier to come up with ways that you can make the year better; it is easier to come up with a plan for success, and implement it from the start, when you can make the changes from the beginning. Dedicate time and effort to setting yourself up for success and making this year great. Here are 10 things you should focus on to make this year great:

1. Meal prep

Lunch is much easier, cheaper and quicker when you have it planned out and prepared early in the week.

2. Set a consistent morning alarm and go to bed early

If you train your body to get a good night's rest but wake up at an early time, you will get a much better start to the day.

3. Build a workout routine

Set a well-rounded routine that promotes wellness for your whole body

4. Keep your resumé up to date

Don't fall behind on keeping your resumé and cover letter current; you will want to stay on top of it so you are always prepared.

5. Get a job/internship

Don't overwhelm yourself, but get involved with a position that will help guide your future.

6. Don't procrastinate - stick to a schedule

If you build time into your schedule for each class, you will make it easier on yourself to always commit to finishing your homework in a timely manner.

7. Let loose occasionally

You need to allow yourself to have fun and blow off some steam. However you like to do that, be sure to allow yourself breaks.

8. Read for fun

Your brain needs a break from your studies, too. Read something purely because it is fun; it will help you break away from reality for a little while.

9. Keep your space clean

Stay organized so you can come home to a refreshing, comfortable space without overwhelming clutter.

10. Keep a journal

You need an outlet for your honest thoughts and feelings. Keep a journal to help keep your mind refreshed and get things off your chest. Plus, it can be nice to look back on in the future.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
