Resisting peer pressure is such a big topic because many of you are getting ready to graduate high school and go on to college. There are going to be times where your “friends” are going to make you want to do things that you should not be doing. Here are three ways you can resist peer pressure.
Remember why that your parents are sending you away to school and want you to do well and be successful. They are not sending you off just to be foolish and get yourself into sticky situations. For example, if your “friends” want you to party with them but you have an 8 am class the next morning, you must remember how important your education is. If you miss your 8 am or you weren't studying like you should have been, you are not doing as well as you should have been. If you remembered why you are going to school in the first place, that would not happen.
Remember who is watching. If your “friends” want you to smoke when you know you should not be anywhere near anything illegal, you run the risk of getting in trouble -- with the law or just your friends & family. You may not get in trouble in the first time, but it's not worth the risk! See what happens when you say no.
I have people that ask me why do not drink, smoke, or go to parties. Easy answer: I do not want to be pressured into situations that I can not get myself out of. It might be fine to do in the moment, but you never know what one sticky situation can lead to. That is my reason why I do not choose that path.
Peer pressure might be hard to say no to, but if you follow my tips and my way of living, you should find it easier to make better choices. It might seem like I am living a boring life, but I’d rather live a boring life and stay out of trouble than get into trouble with the law! Remember: just say NO!
