A Reminder That You Are Awesome
Page A Day

Everyone is dealing with stress. Maybe you're worried about how you're going to pay your bills, how you're going to finish all your homework in time, or you're just concerned about your alarm not waking you up for an important meeting the next morning. No matter what it is, there's stress in everyone's life.

Everyone always loves to remind us of why we should be worrying about our lives, but I hardly ever hear about people just telling me "good job" and "keep up the good work." So, I have decided to make that my job for a day. I want to remind each and every one of you that you are awesome. Forget about the stress every once in a while and think about all that you've accomplished. Just because something is giving you a struggle now does not mean it's impossible or that you can't do it. Look back on the other times you couldn't succeed but then you did. Remember how that felt. And, after you've rediscovered your awesomeness, then you can be ready to tackle your tasks now.

It's also important to remember the things you love about life. Friends, family, a hobby that you couldn't live without. All of these can really help keep you sane when you have all this other stress in your life. Don't forget that you need rest too, so sit back, watch some Netflix, play a game with your family, whatever you want to do to get your mind off life for a little while. Naps are my personal favorite. The world is still spinning and will not stop just because you took a break from reality. Sometimes that's all you need to be able to get back on your feet and finish everything you need to do. There's a reason people have days off. People can't physically work 24/7, which means you have to remember to give yourself that break time. Plus, you deserve it. You've worked hard, it's time to go out and have fun with some friends.

Life is constantly knocking at our door, and every once in a while we just have to let it wait. We're all expected to do so much all at once, and while you have to remind yourself that you are capable of doing it all, you still need to take steps back and rest. Plan your time wisely. If you have to, mark in your calendars when you're going to relax and do whatever you want, so that you don't lose your mind while making your schedule.

The world is so lucky to have you here, but it can wait whenever you need a day or two to recuperate. Everyone will appreciate that you've gotten your head back after you've rested. Just don't forget that you're awesome, you've already done so much, and you will be able to get through whatever you need to get through next.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
