Although we are almost done with fall semester, it is never too late to explore your religion and get involved on campus. That is one of the best parts about the University of Alabama, there is a lot of religious diversity, and there is a place for everyone.

According to The Source website, there are 21 official religious clubs/groups on campus. Below I am going to give you the run down on each organization.

Afro American Gospel Choir

“We are a special interest organization on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Our members all share a common enjoyment for ministry and serving God through song and dance. Our organization is known world wide for its creative ministry, and for the past four years we have participated in, and won first place in the large choir division at the National Baptist Student Union Retreat. We travel throughout the southeast representing the University of Alabama as a recruitment resource and also representing our diverse communities as a form of outreach.”

Bama Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ)

Mission: “Bama Cru exists at the University of Alabama to help students break through the cultural barriers to see and experience an authentic Jesus."

Baptist Campus Ministries

ONE, The College Ministry Of Church Of The Highlands

ONE exists to build community and relationships among college students on campus in Auburn and Tuscaloosa. Each week students have the opportunity to engage in life-giving community, while encountering God through powerful worship and a relevant message. First Baptist College Ministry

Hillel Foundation

“Hillel has been a welcoming home for Jewish students, their friends and those interested in meeting new people. We strive as an organization to provide social, cultural and religious activities so Jewish students have a place to connect and have fun. Our students come from all over and are leaders in a wide variety of organizations across campus. We welcome new members to Hillel throughout the year and are delighted that our “family” continues to grow.”

Reformed University Fellowship (RUF)

“We exist to reach students for Christ and to equip them to serve His church. St. Francis Catholic Student Ministry

“St. Francis Catholic Student Ministry is for all Catholic students enrolled at UA and open to students of all faiths that are interested in joining. Our ministry offers spiritual services, which include Sunday & weekday Masses, spiritual studies, social events, off-campus retreats, community service opportunities, music ministry, intramural sports teams, parish involvement, alternative spring break trips and participation with other students through the Campus Ministry Association of UA.”

“The purposes of the UA Vedic Society are to:

1. To help all people discern spirit from matter, the eternal from of soul from temporary. 2. To encourage the student community to appreciate and understand higher dimensions of knowledge as given in the Vedic scriptures 3. To discuss modern issues in the light of the Vedic scriptures and encourage modern thinkers to appreciate and apply ancient spiritual ideas 4. To help youth become effective managers of their own lives and powerful leaders in the society 5. To encourage all youth to espouse eternal principles as given in the scriptures that would help them develop stable, well-rounded personalities 6. Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
