As a college student surrounded by 20 and almost 20 year old "adults," I am constantly bombarded by people asking or giving relationship advice, in need of guidance or in need to give guidance. While I'm not a pro in that department, I think the cast of "How I Met Your Mother" knows the way to anyone's heart.
Only date someone who will go the full nine yards for you, French Horn and all.
Spend your time with someone who values every second of every day with you.
If a complete stranger can tell what's going on from afar, they're probably into you. So go for it.
The corny pick up lines don't work unless they're a joke. Don't ever fall for them.
If it makes your friends "ooooh" and "ahhhh" keep it going. That means they approve.
Someone who not only believes in timing but in waiting and not only being accepted but being liked is a good one.
Anyone who sees past your flaws and and turns them into positive qualities is someone who knows how you should always be seen.
If they aren't embarrassed to do dumb things for or around you, date them.
And if they look commitment in the face with fear and go in head first anyways, date them then too.
The most important part of any relationship, though, is a strong friendship.
So if you can't take relationship advice from me, take it from the characters in HIMYM, because somehow they figured it out after many, many wrong endings. I guess there's more to learn than just how Ted met the mother.
