The Best Tips for Registering for Next Semester
The spring semester always seems to fly by so fast. Before you know it, it is already time to register for next semester’s courses. Here is a list of ways to choose the best classes for you.
1. Try and register for classes as early as possible. The courses you might be interested in might fill up quickly!
2. Make sure you have your 4-year course plan mapped out and know exactly what you need to take and all of your requirements.
3. Meet with your advisor to help give you guidance on the best courses to take for your major.
4. Balance your courses with more difficult course and lighter course each semester. For example, if you have a couple challenging courses, add in a few electives or courses you know you will do well in to make your load lighter.
5. Check out RateMyProfessor.com or other resources that can give reviews on the professors that teach the courses you need. This is a helpful way to know what to expect in certain classes taught by those professors. Just remember that students write the reviews and they are not all 100% accurate!
6. Talk with other students who have taken the courses you need and experience with the professors who teach the courses. Everybody has a different opinion about the different courses and professors, but it will help you get an idea of the difficulty level.
7. If you are not an early riser, try and avoid 8 a.m. classes. This is especially true if you are a commuter because traffic can be unpredictable!
8. Prepare a back-up schedule in case the courses you want fill up.
9. If you have the option to, take courses that interest you the most. The more interested you are in a course, the easier it will be!
10. If you have a part-time job, make sure that you can work around your school schedule.
11. Lastly, create a schedule that works best for you! You know yourself best and it is important to try and take the classes at the times that work best for you. For example, if you want to finish early in a day, you might want to schedule your classes back to back. If you want to pace yourself more, you might want to leave gaps in between each class.
