Registration and housing day are arguably the two worst days out of the year all wrapped up into one week. Now that we are past that, I would like to reflect on our feelings of these events as told by one of my favorite movies: "Bridesmaids."
1. At first, you think everything is great.
You've met with your advisor, you have your schedule planned out a week in advance, and you feel prepared.
2. Then, a day or two before registration, you realize that all of your classes are filling up (if not already full).
This is when you start to panic.
3. After freaking out and making five different possible schedules, the day has arrived.
4. Despite your best efforts, you really don't end up with any of the classes you want.
So, you start screaming or crying in front of your roommate.
5. And you have that one friend who brags because she has all the classes that she wants next semester.
6. Then, when you attempt to rectify the situation.
You start begging a professor for an override, but they refuse to give you one.
7. You eventually find some kindhearted professor who approves the override, and you feel so relieved that it all worked out.
8. And all you want to do is celebrate the end of registration with your friends.
9. But you realize you also have to register for housing, soon.
10. This means that you split up into groups, and pick a group leader who will fight to make sure your group gets the best housing.
The whole housing process is actually kind of aggressive.
11. here's that one friend in your group who has crappy priority points, bringing your entire group average down.
12. Finally, the day comes, and you typically end up getting what you wanted all along.
13. Or you don't.
14. Either way, you and your friends are just happy that it's over.
15. Until you realize that you have to do it all over again next year.
Even though these events are stressful, it usually doesn't turn out as badly as you had anticipated. So, try not to stress too much over it because, in the end, we only have to do this for four years.
