According to dozens of sites in both the sports and medicine realms, an ACL tear is one of the worst injuries you can sustain as an athlete. Not only is recovery extremely painful, but it’s freaking LONG. The fact that you have to spend an entire year working on re-gaining the most basic functions of your leg is absurd, but on the bright side, it teaches you to appreciate every little bit of progress. I may or may now have cried tears of joy when I was finally able to bend my knee enough to put my own socks on and tie my shoes.
