Reasons Why Cats Are The Best

Cats are everywhere. We brag about our cats. We watch cute cat videos on the internet. We see stray cats as we drive down our streets. We see the commercials for animal shelters and other cat-related things on television. Let's face it, our lives revolve around cats. We let them hog our beds. We let them scratch up our arms and legs, making us look like we got in a fight with a thorn bush--and lost. We feed them, give them water, make sure they're always comfortable, put up with them interrupting us when we're in the middle of something. Basically, we spoil them rotten. But, any cat owner knows that they are worth it. Even when we complain and get frustrated, we know that we would never trade our cats for anything in the world. Why are they awesome?

1. They're adorable.

Try to look at this gif and not find them adorable. You can't, can you? Point proven.

2. They make us laugh.

We may never know why cats do the things they do. Whatever the reasoning is, cats never fail to make us laugh.

3. They give excellent massages.

Forget buying a fancy machine or paying a professional to do it, as long as you can ignore the tiny nails piercing your skin, cats give some of the best massages in the world--for free!

4. They aid our procrastination efforts.

Cats seem to have a sixth sense for when we are in the middle of something. We may moan and groan, but--deep down--we're all grateful for the distraction.

5. They keep us warm.

When they feel like it, cats can be great cuddlers. Fuzzy and warm, cats will keep you warm all night.

6. They catch bugs so that we don't have to.

Admit it, you've thrown your cat at a bug before in hopes that they would take care of the messy work. What is the point of owning a cat if you don't use them as your personal bug-catcher?

7. They are like tiny, furry humans.

They may not speak our language, but we can feel the anger, disappointment, and sarcasm in their glares. We may be two different species, but cats never fail to remind us of small, disgruntled humans.

8. They love the indoors as much as we do.

Feel like hiding in your room all day and avoiding the outdoors? No problem, most cats will do you one better and find their own hiding place away from all human interaction.

9. They can make great protectors.

When a cat's anger is focused on you, it's scary. The upside is if anyone tries to harm you, your cat will always be there to scare them off.

10. Their love is endless.

It may take you a little time and persistence, but once you have a cat's love, you will realize that it was all worth it.

11. They have the ability to rule the world.

We all know that when cats sit there, quietly staring as if contemplating life, they are really plotting world domination. One day, though maybe not today, cats will rule the world. They're cute, smart, cranky, funny, and lovable--a perfect and deadly combination. When that day comes, don't you want to be on their good side?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
