I want to meet people that I will probably never see again.

Reasons I Want To Travel
Alexander Estmo

I want to travel the world. I want to go places I can only imagine and have adventures in lands I've never seen. I want to try new things and make the most out of my life. I want to look back and say, "I can't believe I did that". I want to meet people that I will probably never see again and make friends with people I'll always know. I want to dance all night. I want to camp out under the stars and watch fire dance in the night. I want to hear the blaring of horns on the streets of Manhattan. I want to see the fogs of London. I want to taste the finest of wines and the freshest of beers. I want to learn cuisine from locals and be apart of the culture if just for one day. I want to go to the tallest buildings and look over the cities. I want to stand on the largest peaks and look out at the world. I want to see sunrises and sunsets over mountains and seas and buildings.

I want to swim in every ocean and lay on every beach. I want to swim with sharks and see dauphins. I want to dive with professionals and discover shipwrecks. I want to see lions and tigers. I want to see elephants. I want to go skydiving and bungee jumping. I want to go ziplining. I want to learn to sail and surf the waves. I want to go kayaking and paddle boarding. I want to go white water rafting. I want go to the wildest parts of nature and the busiest parts of cities. I want to be able to wake up in one place and by that night be in a completely different location. I want to learn languages from the locals. I want to be apart of their culture. I want to find solitude and peace in the quiet of an empty beach or the top of a deserted building or at the top of a lonely mountain edge. I want to find knowledge in the people I meet and the places I see. I want to gain wisdom from my mistakes. I want to help others and pray with them. I want to wake up one day and be old and gray and tell my grandchildren about my travels. When they finally lay me to rest I want to be at peace with the knowledge that I did exactly what I wanted to do with my life and I have no regrets.

When I travel I want it to change me for the better. I want my experiences to make me wiser and more diverse. I want to learn the ways of the world. I want to be a more understanding person and more adapted to people's way and grow more tolerant. The oceans I'll travel and places I'll see will be the topper to the experiences I have and the friends I'll make. I want to take a piece of each place with me as I leave and know it will always be with me no matter what.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
