11 Reasons Why You Should Watch 'Stranger Things'

Especially if you're not into sci-fi.

I know I'm jumping on this bandwagon about a year too late, but I'm here to stay: "Stranger Things" is a great show. I tried watching the first season last year when it first came out and you couldn't walk outside your front door without hearing something about Eleven, but got about 2.75 episodes into it and gave up because I was bored.

Well, guess when things get interesting? About 2.8 episodes into the first season. So, yeah, I kind of missed out for a year, but after binging two seasons in a long weekend, I feel like I never missed anything. If you're like me and don't think you'd be into "Stranger Things," these 11 things should change your mind.

1. It's not all sci-fi

I can handle a little bit of sci-fi, like a "Harry Potter" amount of sci-fi, so I thought "Stranger Things" was too much for me. But as you get a few episodes into it, you get more into the characters and the show is more about them than the paranormal creatures.

2.The cast is made up of the cutest human beings to ever exist

Any cast that spans the range between Joe Keery and Gaten Matarazzo, possibly the two cutest people in very different ways, is always winning.

3. Winona Ryder is a treasure

She's incredible and everyone needs to appreciate her acting.

4. Eleven and Hopper

Actually, if you don't want to vomit from the sheer adorableness of this pairing, maybe don't watch "Stranger Things." Honestly, they might be cuter than unlikely animal friends.

5. Nancy Wheeler is the female hero we all need

She's a hero in the best ways. She's really just a super cool, badass, teenage girl with awesome character development who always plays a big role in the plot. Keep on keeping on, Nance.

6. Steve Harrington is way better than you MCM

Steve transforms from the guy you'd avoid at frat parties to the guy your mom wants you to date (and you do, too). Season 1 Steve is every guy you hated in high school and season 2 Steve is the world's greatest (and hottest) babysitter.

7. Cinematic quality is on point

I'm not any kind of special effect genius, but "Stranger Things" is pretty amazing to watch. Possibly the best feature of "Stranger Things" though is the 80's background music that ties it all together.

8. You can skip the intro on Netflix

If this isn't on your checklist when picking a new show to watch, you're an amateur binge-watcher and need to step up your game.

9. It's an easy watch

Eight episodes in season 1 and nine in season two--this is an easy weekend watch. I promise you won't regret a thing.

10. Everyone in pretty relatable

Even the characters with supernatural powers are pretty normal people. It's basically like watching what your twelve-year-old self would do if this weird stuff started happening in your town.

11. Eleven

...get it?...But really, Eleven is an amazing character that you can't help but love. You'll want to be her and be her mom because that girl needs some TLC.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
