It is the morning of February 14, and you have not woken up to a cute "good morning <3" text and you are feeling especially alone, today of all days. You get up to brush your teeth and then you remember why you're feeling a bit gloomy. It is because you've woken up on everyone's favorite holiday: Valentine's Day!
But, so what if you do not have a "special someone?" You are pretty special yourself, but if you need more reasons to enjoy this day being single, here are five:
1. You can treat yo' self.
Every day should be about making choices that better your life and make you happy, but Valentine's Day is a day you could go all the way out and spoil yourself! You deserve it. Do not just go window shopping. Go inside the store and buy what you see and like with no regrets. Go on Amazon and take advantage of that glorious Amazon Prime.
2. No pressure of messing up a relationship with "The One."
That is your face every time someone asks you, if you see yourself with your partner in five years. "Um... yes? no? maybe? I don't know!" Valentine's Day brings upon a lot of pressure of where the relationship is going. Being single, that all goes away, so not to worry, my friend.
3. You can get your girlfriends together and laugh about ridiculous past relationships.
Boys may come and go but best friends are forever. Friendships are valuable and the older we get, the more we come to realize that it is definitely quality over quantity. Your group gets smaller, but the memories get more unforgettable. Enjoy this day to create more memories with your favorite people.
4. Being able to watch the movie "Valentine's Day" with pajamas and popcorn.
This movie not only stars eye candy Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Patrick Dempsey (McDreamy), Eric Dane (McSteamy), and Taylor Lautner, but it also stars Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, and Taylor Swift. I can go on and on because this movie has some big names! But that is not the only thing the movie has, because the movie is the beginning of when Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner decided to date (Yes, they did). It is the perfect movie to cuddle up and look at all those beautiful faces.
5. Don't worry, your magical Valentine's Day date will come.
Don't accept a V-day date just to not be alone. It's a special day for love. Spend it with the people you love, or with yourself. Love comes when the time is right, slowly but greatly. Go put yourself out there, and when you least expect it, he'll be sitting down next to you in anthropology class.
