People tend to believe that Wayside Central is the grimy dance club of Mt. Pleasant. It has this negative connotation with the upperclassmen, and it's unclear why. I've heard the phrase "That's where the freshmen go" on multiple occasions. Just because it's an 18 and over club does not mean that you should bash it. Why not go to Wayside to have a good time?
The following reasons explain why it's okay to still go there as an upperclassman:
If you aren't a workout buff, you probably don't do a lot to burn calories. But going out to Wayside and dancing can be a great workout! Forget any shame that is attached to going "where the freshmen go." Who cares? The only other bar with a dance floor in town charges a cover and makes you get their bottle service to sit down. So why pay to go there when you can just have a good time at Wayside?
On that note, Wayside Central has Ladies Night every Friday night! Ladies don't have to pay a cover.
Not a big dancer? Go to people watch. Even though the club is 18+, you still get a really wide age range of people that come in. There are people dressed in everything from dresses and heels to sweats and sneakers.
On that note, Wayside is totally a no judgement zone. Because people show up in different types of attire, you don't have to dress to impress. Go whatever you feel comfortable in. That makes it a lot more enjoyable.
Their bar also has great drink specials that they run. Every Tuesday is Pint Night (which you should already know), and every Friday they run Party Pass Friday specials that include really cheap drinks if you purchase their $3 wristband.
And the concerts and events? They are pretty awesome. Who else in Mt. Pleasant throws Foam Parties? Or gets Machine Gun Kelly to perform? No one! If you don't go to Wayside just to go for the weekend, you should definitely go to a concert or event. They've thrown big holiday parties in the past, as well. So don't count them out just because they allow anyone over 18 in.
And one thing that you may not know about Wayside, is that they are taking a part in the Tree Love Collective. They are going to host an event that brings individuals and their art that inspires being positive, and they even give back to the community.
So, the moral of the story here is that Wayside isn't just for the underclassmen. There are plenty of reasons to go there to have a good time. Don't count it out because of it's "reputation." Go out and have a good time— judgment free.
